Environmental Advocacy Research Intern
In 2008, the Research Intern will work closely with our Advocate and policy experts around the state to compile, design content, and market our IPM-Opedia project that uses cutting edge web 2.0 technologies.
Context:
Pesticides are in our air, water, and food. They are in our schools, hospitals, and homes. They are known to cause cancer, birth defects, nervous system disorders, reproductive problems, endocrine (hormone) disruption, and immune deficiency (http://www.watoxics.org/healthy-schools/pesticides-101/kids-health). According to a recent study 90% of people have pesticides in their bloodstream.
The Washington Toxics Coalition has just launched its most ambitious campaign to date. We are working to reform the chemical policies in Washington State, challenging our legislature to enact new laws to make sure that only the safest chemicals are allowed into our schools, food and products.
