Things you can do to reduce pesticide use in parks and other city and county public spaces.

Making Local Parks and Public Places Safe for Salmon and Kids

More and more cities and counties in Washington are adopting strong policies eliminating the use of toxic pesticides in parks, along roads, and in public places. Cities, including Seattle, Lynnwood, Olympia, Snohomish, and Bainbridge Island are implementing non-toxic and least-toxic techniques for landscape management that maintain healthy and beautiful public places. These city policies are the direct result of citizen activism and public pressure on elected officials.

You too can make your city a model, least-toxic community, too! Our Clean Water for Salmon Pesticide Action Kit will help with step-by-step ideas for working with your city, and includes other important resources.

For assistance organizing in your community around pesticide reduction, contact WTC at info@watoxics.org or 206-632-1545.

Don’t Let the Pesticide Industry Gain Control of Pesticide Incident Reporting!

Governor Gregoire is about to appoint two people to the state Pesticide Incident Reporting and Tracking (PIRT) Panel. She is being pressured by agricultural/pesticide groups to appoint individuals who stand to gain from minimizing any information or proposals that restrict pesticide use.
