The Children's Safe Product Act of 2008
Provides information on the Children's Safe Product Act, a Washington state bill to eliminate toxic chemicals in toys.
During the 2008 legislative session, the Washington Toxics Coalition and our allies are supporting a bill that will eliminate toxic chemicals in children's products.
The Children's Safe Products Act of 2008 (HB 2647 and SB 6530), sponsored by Representative Mary Lou Dickerson (D-36) and Senator Debbie Regala (D-27), provides a commonsense solution to the problem of toxic chemicals in toys and other products.
Specifically the bill will:
- Protect children from lead, cadmium, and phthalates in products they use everyday.
- Provide consumers with information to make safer product choices for their children.
- Put Washington on track to addressing the many other hazardous chemicals in children’s products.
