Environmental Health Outreach Intern

Washington Toxics Coalition (WTC) is currently seeking a Environmental Health Outreach Intern to support the organization's campaign to pass legislation to protect consumer safety by regulating the use of toxic chemicals in consumer goods. The Environmental Health Outreach Intern will work with the Field Organizer in generating and mobilizing grassroots support.

We are exposed to a myriad of toxic chemicals from the products we use every day. Most of the chemicals in consumer products such as toys, televisions, and even cosmetics are completely unregulated, and recent studies are finding these nasty pollutants in our bodies. The Environmental Health Outreach Intern will work with the Field Organizer in generating and mobilizing grassroots support.

Position Responsibilities:

The Environmental Health Outreach Intern will work closely with our policy experts and field organizer to educate citizens and mobilize them in support of our legislation to make consumer products free of toxic chemicals. Specifically the intern will assist with education and activating our supporters, doing outreach in key communities, and assisting with our lobbying strategy in the House and Senate.

Other Responsibilities May Include:

Helping to set up presentations in key communities around the state, and tracking the involvement of legislators and our activists in our database.

Qualified Candidates Should Be: Responsible, self motivated, and good with time management. Good on the phone. Passionate about creating a healthier planet free of toxic chemicals. Good organizational skills and experience with databases a plus.
